CBD Isolate vs. Full Spectrum CBD: Part One Leave a comment

What type of CBD oil is best for you? Should you take a CBD isolate or a full spectrum CBD oil? As CBD’s public profile grows, people are using it to help with many ailments and conditions. CBD can be consumed in a number of manners, including orally, topically and inhaling.

There are two primary forms of CBD on the market, CBD isolates and “full spectrum” CBD. CBD isolates have been touted as the purest and most concentrated form of CBD (cannabinoid). CBD isolates typically have all THC removed by the manufacturers. THC is the most psychoactive agent in the cannabis plant species and in most states, its levels must be below 0.3% to be legally sold.

What is CBD Isolate?

Purified CBD is extracted from the hemp plant and isolated from all the other naturally occurring cannabinoids. During the extraction process, CBD, other cannabinoids, plant parts, flavonoids and terpenes within the hemp plant are extracted. Most CBD isolate is extracted from Hemp that contains
very low levels of THC.

What is Full Spectrum CBD?

Full spectrum CBD extract contains all the compounds that naturally occur in the hemp plant, including other cannabinoids, essential oils, and terpenes. Hemp-derived full spectrum CBD oil will contain trace
amounts of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) along with other cannabinoids.

Full spectrum CBD oil blends these concentrations to create a unique spectrum of properties working together to magnify the therapeutic benefits. This creates the “entourage effect”.

IN 2005, a study from the Lautenberg Center for General Tumor Immunology in Jerusalem showed that full spectrum CBD may provide higher levels of relief than CBD isolate. The study further noted that full
spectrum CBD may provide enhanced effects with higher dosages, while the effect of CBD from isolate did not change with increased dosages.
